Property worth Rs 10 million gutted in fire

GAIGHAT: Property worth around Rs 10 million was gutted in a fire at Gaighat Bazar of Triyuga Municipality-11.

The fire believed to have been originated from candle lit for the Laxmipuja celebrations last night destroyed a clothing store situated at the ground floor of the house of Sitaram Karki at BP Chowk, Triyuga municipality-11.

The shop is operated on a joint venture was completely destroyed in the fire.  Shop owners Khem Nepal, Mohan Bahadur Karki and Narayan Bahadur Pandey performed the Laxmipuja at around 9:00 pm and left for home.

District Police Office Udaypur said the fire must be spread from the burning candle and a night police patrol team came to know about the fire only at 1:00 am and succeeded in taking it under control only at 3:00 am, Office Chief Bir Bahadur Budhamagar said.

According to victims, property worth Rs 12 million was destroyed in the fire, but police preliminary investigations showed that it caused the loss of up to Rs eight million.
