Media Council Bill to be tabled in National Assembly meet on Thursday

KATHMANDU: The Media Council Bill is being tabled at the National Assembly meeting on Thursday three months after its registration.

The Bill is being tabled in the National Assembly meeting after the government agreed to amend some of its disputed provisions.

Various organizations including Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) had hit the streets after it was registered in the National Assembly saying that it was against the spirit of the Constitution. Main opposition Nepali Congress protested in the parliament demanding withdrawal of the Bill unconditionally.
