TAAN Election 2019: 4 candidates vying for president

KATHMANDU: Four candidates are vying for the post of President in the elections of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) to elect a new Executive Committee on September 6 this year.

Nilhari Bastola (Nilam), Managing Director of Asian Heritage Treks and Expeditions, Khum Bahadur Subedi, currently holding the post of the first president at TAAN, Mohan Lamsal of Makalu Adventure, also the former General Secretary, and Kumar Thapa of Asahi Treks and Expedition have announced their candidacies for the President.

Bastola is currently holding the post of the second vice-president of TAAN. He aims to improve the trekking sector and bolster the tourism business. Bastola said he aimed to develop the tourism market in coordination with the stakeholders for destination promotion and to make Visit Nepal 2020 a success.

Likewise, Subedi, who is also the Managing Director at Unique Adventure International P. Ltd, said he is competing to lead the umbrella organization of trekking agencies in Nepal to take ahead the organization systematically.

Similarly, Lamsal said would work towards controlling irregularities in trekking business. Likewise, Thapa said he announced his candidacy to develop TAAN as a professional organization.
