KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has launched a campaign to remove hoarding boards in the metropolis.
The KMC initiated action after a contempt of court case was filed against the authority for failing to remove hoarding boards as ordered by the Supreme Court in 2015.
Then Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justice Om Prakash Mishra had on September 2, 2015, ordered the removal of hoarding boards inside the KMC.
The campaign was initiated after a meeting with Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa and concerned officials on Thursday.
Authorities have constituted task forces to remove hoarding boards. Meanwhile, Nepal Police, representatives of the District Administration Office, Department of Roads, Nepal Telecom, and Nepal Electricity Authority have also been included in the initiatives.
