Sugarcane farmers launch protest in west Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI: Sugar cane farmers of western Nawalparasi again have launched different protest programs demanding the release of their due payment.

The farmers in the district each year protest demanding payment of their produce, as sugar mill continues to cheat farmers in different pretexts.

The farmers shared that they have to get payment of over 500 million rupees from these sugar mills since previous years.

According to Chairman of sugarcane producing committee Umesh Chandra Yadav, they are demanding to announce the market price of sugarcane and get their due amount paid by the sugar mills immediately.

About 10 thousand families are involved in sugarcane farming in western Nawalparasi.  They annually produce around two million quintals of sugarcane.
