Committee directs completion of Hanumante corridor

KATHMANDU: The Development and Technology Committee of the Parliament has directed for the early construction of the Hanumante corridor project in Bhaktapur.

The committee issued the directive after conducting a field inspection of the under-construction Hanumante corridor along the Hanumante river in Bhaktapur.

Kalyani Khadka, Chairperson of the Committee, who led the team, directed completion of the project without any delay.

Khadka said that the corridor is expected to control Jadibuti-Koteshwor traffic jams and pledged the committee’s special role in resolving problems relating to the project raised by the affected locals.

Likewise, lawmaker Mahesh Basnet also stressed the need to complete the project to reduce Koteshwor-Jadibuti traffic congestion.

The second phase of the 1.99 billion project stretches from Balkumari to Jadibuti to Radhe-Radhe in Bhaktapur.

A total 16-kilometer road would be constructed on both sides of the Hanumante corridor.
