KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali, who is on an official visit to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia, met with his counterpart of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
Minister Gyawali held talks with Lavrov at a program organized at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations on Monday.
The leaders discussed the mutual interest and bilateral relations between Nepal and Russia, according to Minister Gyawali’s status on Twitter.
“I held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation after a long time. We jointly briefed the press meeting,” Gyawali tweeted.
Meanwhile Gyawali also paid a courtesy call on Russian political leaders and and the representatives of Non Resident Nepali Association on the occasion.
Gyawali, who embarked on an official visit to Russia on November 23, has also a program to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to Nepal on behalf of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
On November 27, Gyawali will fly to Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia, where he will meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic.
Foreign Secretary Shaker Das Bairagi, Nepali Ambassador to the Russian Federation Rishi Ram Ghimire among other officials are accompanying Minister Gyawali during his foreign visit. He will return home on November 30.
