Trekking route construction under PM employment program

SHUKLAPHANTA: Around 24 people were engaged in the construction of trekking route at Batase Jharana, which is a touristic area in Shuklaphanta municipality-8 under the Prime Minister Employment Program.

The trekking route is one of the key tourism destinations for domestic tourists. The workers have been involved in the construction of steps and removal of stones from the way to ease the movement of tourists to the Jharna (waterfall), according to ward-8 Chairperson Bahadur Singh Mahara.

The workers, mostly from indigenous nationalities, Dalit, single women and families from disadvantaged communities, under the program have been getting Rs 517 per day for 30 days.

A total of 207 people have received employment in the municipality under this program in the current fiscal year.
