Anti-Semitism on rise in Germany

BERLIN:  Felix Klein, Germany’s government commissioner on anti-Semitism has warned Jews not to wear the Kippah (skull-cap), a traditional religious symbol in public as they are being targeted. In an interview carried by the Funke media group he said, ‘I cannot advise Jews to wear the kippah everywhere all the time in Germany’.

Anti-Jewish attacks in Germany is on rise. A sharp increase of 10% in such attacks was recorded last year by Government of Germany. The number of attacks against Jews in Germany increased from 1,504 in 2017 to 1,646 in 2018.
