Seti River claims seven in five months



DOTI: The Seti River has claimed the lives of seven persons in the recent five months in the district. The District Police Office shared this record. Most of them were drowned and swept away by the river while taking a bath and swimming.

Spokesperson at the Office, Lal Bahadur Dhami, informed that Lokendra Bahadur Rawal, 38, from KI Singh rural municipality-5 drowned in the river in April. His dead body was found after nine days.

Others to lose lives since then were Dharma Kumari Mahara, 16, from Shikhar municipality-4; Pushkar Singh, 45, from Adharsha rural municipality-5; Basu Adhikari of about 35 from Adarsha rural municipality-6; Govinda Balayar, 5, from Shikhar municipality-10; Mani Parki, 52, from Adarsha rural municipality-4; Karishma Nepali, 8, from Dipayal Silgadhi municipality-4.

Among these, Mani Parki had committed suicide by falling into the river.

To sheer recklessness of those going to the river for taking bath, they got swept away by the river current or got drowned, police official Dhami said.

Ward No 1 Chair of Shikhar municipality, Khadka Bhadur Shahi informed that time had come to raise awareness among the people living on the banks of the river.
