President Bhandari reaches Beijing



BEIJING: Promotion of cooperation between Nepal and Shaanxi Province of China, particularly in the fields of culture, education, tourism, investment and people-to-people has been discussed here Thursday.

The discussion was held in the meeting between Governor of Shaanxi Province of China, Liu Gouzhong, and President Bidya Devi Bhandari in Xi’an. President Bhandari was received by Shaanxi Province Governor Gouzhong here today.

They also discussed the promotion of the sister relationship between various cities in both countries. Following the meeting, the Governor hosted a banquet luncheon in honor of the President and the Nepali delegation.

Earlier in the morning, President Bhandari visited the historic Da Ci’en Temple, which has historic links with Lumbini, the birthplace of Shakyamuni Buddha. In the afternoon before leaving for Beijing, she visited the world-famous Terracotta Warriors Museum. The President was briefed about the historic significance and current status of both places.

Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Chief Minister of State-3 Dormani Poudel, lawmakers, high-ranking government officials, Ambassador of China to Nepal and Ambassador of Nepal to China were present during the events.

President Bhandari arrives in Beijing

The President and the entourage members arrived in Beijing this evening. Upon arrival at the Beijing Capital International Airport, the President was received by Vice- Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kong Xuanyou, Ambassador of China to Nepal, and Ambassador of Nepal to China and other officials of the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.

She is scheduled to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation to be held in Beijing on Friday. The President also delivers a speech at the Forum and attend the banquet hosted by President Xi Jinping on Friday evening.
