POKHARA: An interaction was organized on the theme ‘election and media’ in view of the November 30 by-election taking place for the seat of the House of Representatives in constituency no. 2 of Kaski district.
Around 30 journalists based in Pokhara took part in the event hosted by the Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (FONIJ).
Speaking on the occasion, Chief District Officer Ramesh Kumar KC said that as journalism is a sensitive profession, journalists need to disseminate news based on facts only. He also pointed out the need to follow the election code of conduct while covering news related to the election.
District Election Office, Kaski Chief Mahendra Raj Subedi talked about the function, duties and rights of the political parties, candidates, voters and media persons in an election. He shared that the preparation for the by-election had reached the final stage.
Journalist Bharat Koirala shed light on the code of conduct that the media persons need to following during elections and their responsibilities and duties. FONIJ Gandaki Chair MB Asthamagar chaired the program.
