Cine artistes demand Rabi Lamichhane’s release

KATHMANDU: Nepali cine artistes have demanded impartial investigation into the death of Television Journalist Shalikram Pudasaini and immediate release of Rabi Lamichhane.

Organizing a press meet at Reporters Club Nepal, artistes Deepak Raj Giri, Nikhil Upreti, Ramesh Upreti, Nirmal Sharma urged the government to unveil facts about Pudashaini’s death.

Speaking at the press meet, Deepak Raj Giri  asked for an immediate release of Rabi Lamichhane saying that he was arrested due to legal loop holes.

“Committing suicide is a form of crime. The existing law needs to be rectified. It would be wrong to say that all the statements expressed by a dying person are true,” sad Giri.

Similarly, actor Upreti said the country has been mired in the nasty politics. “The person who is not associated with any political parties is often denied justices. Lamichhane’s case is the result of the same. Those who speak against injustices and suppression will suffer in our country. Which is not good,” said he.

Likewise, Nirmal Sharma also demanded fair investigation into the case and immediate release of Lamichhane.
