Lawmakers seek permanent solution to flooding, landslips

KATHMANDU: Members of the House of Representatives (HoR) have demanded a permanent solution to flood and landslides that create havoc in the country every year.

Speaking during today’s session of the HoR on a resolution of urgent public importance, lawmaker Prabhu Shah asked the government to manage temporary huts for the victims of floods and landslips.

Lawmaker Indu Kumari Sharma urged the concerned authority to preserve the Chure region. She said that the floods and landslides in State 2 were caused by draining of resources from the Chure region.

Bimal Prasad Sriwastab asked the government to look for a permanent solution to some areas of Kathmandu such as Balkhu and Kuleshwor, which have been deluged by flooding.

Lawmaker Prem Suwal suggested the government for diplomatic initiatives with India for a permanent way out of the Terai being flooded during monsoon due to embankments along the Nepal-India border.
