Nepal’s environmental protection impressive: Chinese team



KATHMANDU: A Chinese environmental team representing high-level officials of China today praised Nepal for implementing a model environment conservation program based on people’s participation.

They expressed their keenness to learn from the Nepali model. The delegation led by the Chinese People’s Congress Environment and Resource Conservation Committee chairperson Cao Huchhang expressed the keenness at a meeting with Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Forests and Environment.

The two sides discussed promoting bilateral collaboration in managing environment wildlife, forest, environment wildlife and the biodiversity today.

Minister Basnet apprised the high-level Chinese team about Nepal’s protected areas, forest and environment, national parks and wildlife reserves.

On the occasion, he also proposed adopting integrated approach in diplomacy, politics, economy and environment.

Stating that although Nepal’s role in greenhouse gas emission is nominal, Minister Basnet said it was a matter of sorrow to be enlisted in the list of the most affected countries.
