LONDON: Theresa Mary May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party announces her resignation. She will quit as Conservative leader on 7 June.
This has spurred the political activities in UK to set a contest for deciding upon a new prime minister.
Theresa May, in her emotional statement in Downing Street, said, ‘I have done my best to honor the 2016 EU referendum result. It will remain a matter of deep regret that I have been unable to deliver on Brexit. A new Prime Minister is in the best interests of the country’.
