BEJHAD:  ‘The door-to-door campaign with farmers’ initiated by Agriculture Section Rampur is gaining popularity to attract farmers towards commercial farming.

The initiative was taken to transfer learning for adopting new technology in agriculture so that the subsistence farming can be transformed into commercial one. With this program in place, the Agriculture Section Office Rampur has expanded outreach to the farmers’ houses to impart the new technological skills and innovations in farming.

The initiative is aimed to incentivize farmers in adopting commercial farming and increasing productivity. As the farmers are trained in their farmland practically, the initiative has attracted the farmers to apply technology in farming.

Ramhari Pandey, chief of the section, said the door-to-door visit program was designed in keeping with the problems of farmers. “Imparting training to farmers to their homes and farms is effective rather than inviting them to a formal training. We are teaching them how to cultivate farming through the use of new technology”, he added.

The section is providing training to the farmers associated with the agriculture groups and cooperatives within Rampur Municipality in group. The farmers have been provided with knowledge and skills on applying technology for farming and , exploring solutions to the problems such as diseases. At least four technical human resources are being mobilized to impart the training, Pandey shared.

The technical persons are with farmers from morning to evening to support them in adopting new ways of doing agriculture. Sita Bhandari, chairperson of Kandelbari farmers group, said she was involved in commercial farming after getting training in the field.
