Prez Bhandari returning home wrapping up Myanmar-Japan visit today



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari is returning home after wrapping up her official visit to Myanmar and Japan on Wednesday.

Bhandari is flying back to Nepal from Haneda Airport of Japan via Guangzhou of China today. She left for Japan to take part in the enthronement ceremony of Japan’s emperor Naruhito from Myanmar on Sunday.

Bhandari’s delegation includes Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Foreign Secretary  Shanker Das Bairagi, Nepali Ambassador to Japan Pratibha Rana, Dr Hari Paudel, secretary at the Office of the President, other high-placed officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and media persons.

During her three-day official visit to Japan, Bhandari held talks with her Indian counterpart President Ram Nath Kovind and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The Nepali delegation also visited 1,200-year-old Asakusa Temple and Tokyo Skytree during the Japan visit. Nepali Embassy in Japan had hosted a dinner reception in honor of President Bhandari.

Bhandari had conducted a five-day state to Myanmar at the friendly invitation of President Win Myint before heading for Japan.
