Govt to develop forest as people’s property, Minister Basnet



KATHMANDU: Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet has said that the government was working towards developing forests as people’s common property.

Stating that the government has taken the policy of combating deforestation and human encroachment, it has prepared plans and managed budget for the same to ensure economic prosperity.

Responding to queries raised by lawmakers during today’s session of the parliament, Minister Basnet informed that the government has prepared plan and programs for forest investment and its protection

It should be noted that the government has allocated a total of Rs 11 billion to the sector of forest and environment.
