Economist Madan Dahal passes away

KATHMANDU: Professor Dr. Madan Dahal passed away on Friday. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment for stomach related ailments at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC).

Professor of Economics at Tribhuvan University, Dahal had played a noteworthy role in the economic development of the country. Late Dahal had a good understating of public finance and taxation. The Ministry of Finance used to take regular suggestions from him on economic development. He had also worked as an international consultant for Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Also the chairman of Operating Committee of Mega Bank, Dahal was the founding director at Institute for Strategic and Socio-Economic Research (ISSR).

Of late, Dahal was active on social media and had been expressing his views on economic development of the country, steps for economic development and roles for improvements in tax system.

His last rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today.
