Police seize sophisticated arms, bullets in Sunsari

INARUWA: Nepal police conducted a raid in Barahachhetra-5, Bharaual, and seized 9,000 round bullets, including Aa huge cache of sophisticated arms.

Acting on a tip-off about the possibility of the hidden store of arms and ammunition, the District Police Office Sunsari had dispatched a team for a raid at one of the suspect’s at Bharaul, Sunsari. The team uncovered 9,000 bullets and some sophisticated guns lying under a poultry coop.

One of the officials at Sunsari Police Office hinted that the ‘seized’ arms and ammunition could be stored by the then Maoist combatants during the ‘insurgency’ period.

According to the police, the seized items include Short Machine Gun (SMG) and bullets.

Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been alert in the area.

The police described the incident as ‘under investigation’ refusing to comment much about it.
