Chairman of Bara’s Bishrampur rural municipality arrested



BIRGUNJ: Police have arrested the chairman of a rural municipality in Bara district of Province 2 for his involvement in a vehicular homicide case recorded some 13 years ago.

The chairman Amiri Lal Raut, chief of Bishrampur rural municipality of the district was arrested on Sunday morning, SP Bikas Raj Khanal, chief of the District Police Office said.

The District Court had convicted him in the case in September 2006. He was sent to jail for one month and had imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him.

However, Raut was absconding since then.
