BAGLUNG: Incidents of human rights violations are found to have been increasing in Baglung district. The number of violations doubled this year compared to the previous year.
According to data released by Informal Sector Service Centre here Saturday, a total of 105 incidents of human rights violations took place in the 11 months of 2019.
The number was only 57 in the same period in 2018.
Lack of access to justice and absence of awareness-raising campaigns against violence are reasons behind the rise in the number of human rights violations.
During the period, 46 incidents of domestic violence, eight sexual assault, nine rape, five attempts to rape, 11 violation of civil and political rights, one each of threatening, an assault over education institution, racial discrimination, human trafficking, and other incidents were recorded.
The data was collected for the INSEC human rights yearbook 2020.
