Rs 700 billion needed for Kathmandu-Pokhara-Lumbini Railways



KATHMANDU: A pre-feasibility study carried out for the construction of Kathmandu-Pokhara-Lumbini Railways has stated that an investment of around Rs 700 billion is necessary for the railways.

As per the report submitted by the China National Railway Administration to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Rs 400 billion is necessary for 168-km Kathmandu-Pokhara Railways.

Likewise, the report adds that an investment of Rs 300 billion is necessary for the construction of the 180-km Kurintar-Lumbini Railways.

According to Executive Director at the Department of Railways, the start point of Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway will be Tokha.

Likewise, the entry point for Kurintar-Lumbini Railways will be Kurintar.
