National Assembly endorses two bills



KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) has unanimously passed the Police Adjustment Bill, 2076 and the Bill related to Work Execution, Supervision and Coordination of Nepal Police and Provincial Police, 2076.

The bills were presented with a message from the House of Representatives in today’s NA meeting by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.

Responding to queries raised by lawmakers during a theoretical discussion on the bills, Minister Thapa said the role of Chief District Officer has been equally stipulated in the bills.

According to the bills, CDO will carry out responsibilities specified by both the central and state governments under the governments. Likewise, CDO is entitled to carry out duty and responsibilities and maintain peace and security. Similarly, there will be no differences of any sort between the central and state government.

Lawmakers Bimala Rai Poudel, Prakash Panta, Radhe Shyam Adhikari, Jitendra Narayandev, Khagendra Prasad Puri, Ram Narayan Biradi, Pramila Kumari Subedi and Brishesh Chandra Lal attended the discussion. NA is scheduled to meet next on Friday.
