WeChat, Alipay banned in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has put a ban on the use of WeChat pay and Alipay in the country.

Central Bank of Nepal took a decision to this effect reasoning that the use of these apps caused a loss of dollars from Chinese visitors since they pay through this digital platform.

The Central Bank had started monitoring after the Chinese visitors were found paying through WeChat Pay and Alipay.
