Prachanda accuses monarchists of undermining republic, calls for response

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed concerns over the growing agitation among royalists and Hindus, which he attributed to dissatisfaction with the current government led by the Nepali Congress and the UML.

During a meeting held in Khumaltar, Dahal said the opposition parties must take immediate action as the reactionary forces are gaining momentum. He criticized the Nepali Congress-UML government for its failure to deliver results to the people, stating that the dissatisfaction has been evident in the streets.

“The streets have become heated with dissatisfaction with the current government. Now we should not remain silent. Efforts are being made to shake the republic that was brought after a long struggle,” he said.

The meeting also highlighted the need to monitor the activities of royalists and Hindus, who are gaining traction amid the rising public dissatisfaction.

A leader who attended the meeting revealed that Dahal proposed discussing the matter with the Socialist Front before announcing an agitation program.

The Socialist Front has scheduled a meeting at 4 pm today, and the Maoists will convene a meeting of their office bearers tomorrow at 4 pm.

Following their decision to protest on the streets, the Maoists returned to Kathmandu on Sunday after leaving the Tarai Madhes Awareness Abhiyan.
