Land mafias sell off Dalit settlement



KATHMANDU: Naya Patrika has highlighted an issue of a village captured by land mafias. According to the report land mafias have captured two settlements inhabited by a Dalit community in Mirchaiya Municipality of Siraha district.

A total of 28 households belonging to untouchable community are in Fulbariya village spreading in an area of six kaththas of land.

Members of Dalit community have been inhabiting in this area for the last 90 years. However, their land was sold off by land mafias in cahoots with people’s representatives last year.

After their land was sold off, they do not have even a crematorium to carry out funeral rites in the vicinity.

Similarly, Naya Patrika has prioritized President Bidya Devi Bhandari will fly to China in a chartered Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) plane and a series of bomb explosions claiming lives of 270 in Sri Lanka.
