17 workers trapped inside Rasuwagadhi tunnel rescued alive



RASUWA:  Seventeen workers including six Chinese nationals who were trapped inside the under construction tunnel of Rasuwagadhi hydro project have been rescued alive after almost 11 hours. A joint rescue team from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force rescued them.

The construction workers were trapped after a dry landslide that occurred in the construction site blocked the entrance of the tunnel,  Assistance Chief District Officer Sapana Kumari Bhattarai told Khabarhub.

Eleven Nepalis and six Chinese nationals were among those trapped inside the under construction tunnel of Rasuwagadhi hydro project.

Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force had been deployed in the incident site as soon as the incident occurred. But they carried out rescue operation only Friday morning.

Rasuwagadhi hydro project of 111 megawatt has been taking place at Tatopani in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2.
