KATHMANU: Liaison officers will have to undergo mandatory training before going to different mountain bases.

The government made the decision to this effect amid criticism that liaison officers did not reach their respective mountain bases during the spring climbing season.

The Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) and Nepal Mountain Academy will administer the training from September 22 this year, according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
