Met office forecasts heavy rainfall in central, eastern regions

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) states that there are chances of heavy rainfall at few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.

Heavy rainfall has been forecast in some parts of the country owing to wind generated from Bay of Bengal and the local winds.

Issuing a special weather bulletin today, the MFD said although the monsoon low pressure belt is on the southern part of the country, the wind full of water vapor entered from the Bay of Bengal, which would cause rainfall from mid to heavy scale in some parts of the country today.

The system, as the Division said, would cause general to partly weather change across the country. Similarly, some parts in the eastern and central belts of the country would see heavy rainfall on Sunday.

With this, flash flood is predicted in the small rivers of State 1, 2, 5 and Gandaki State, so the settlements near the river banks are urged to remain alert on Monday. The people have been urged by meteorologists to remain aware of the possible threat of landslide and floods owing to the heavy rainfall in some parts of the country in coming twenty four hours.
