NTC launches optical fiber phone, internet service in Mustang

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom, the state-owned telecommunication service provider, has launched phone and internet service through optical fiber cables in Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Mustang districts.

Senior engineer for the Nepal Telecom office, Baglung, Keshab Sharma announced the service operation by inaugurating it amid a function.

“Customers can avail of the service based on optical fiber technology at their old telephone number,” he said.

The total 60 consumers of Galeshwor have got the service-connected to their phones in the first phase, he said, adding that thereafter, the service would be expanded to the district headquarters, Beni bazaar.

In this regard, efforts were underway to bring this service to the total 2,560 consumers in Beni bazaar, he said.
Approximately 1,100 consumers of Baglung bazaar have availed of the service so far.

The NTC has a plan to provide the service to over 5,200 customers in Beni bazaar alone.

Likewise, the installation of optical fiber is underway in a bid to provide the service to 2,560 customers in Kushma, the district headquarters of Parbat, and 1024 in Jomsom, the district headquarters of Mustang, according to the NTC.
