10 killed in Kathmandu road accidents this Dashain



KATHMANDU: 10 persons were killed in road accidents in Kathmandu Valley during the Dashain festival this year.

According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), 10 persons were killed in 350 road accidents during the festival. 14 were seriously injured and 304 others suffered minor injuries, according to police.

MTPD Chief SSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that most of the accidents occurred due to over speeding and driver’s negligence.

Last year during the Dashain festival, 13 persons lost their lives in 285 road accidents. In the accidents, eight were seriously injured as 202 suffered minor injuries.

During the festival, MTPD booked 14,911 vehicles for violating traffic rules.
