KATHMANDU: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit on Monday informed the government’s plan of opening Local Development Training Academy in all seven states.

Inaugurating the ‘Second International Conference on the Capacity Development of Local Levels for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals’ in the capital today, Minister Pandit said the purpose of such Academy has been aimed at capacity enhancement of the local level employees and people’s representatives.

He said that currently, the local bodies have failed to perform as per the people’s expectations.

“We gave them the required laws late,” he said while making the commitment to allowing the local levels exercise the rights granted to them by the constitution so as to make local governments more responsible and accountable to the people.
