Man injured in khukuri attack over sand taxation row

JHAPA: A man has sustained critical injuries in a khukuri attack that took place in Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality.

The clashes between the two groups occurred over a minor dispute that cropped up in course of collecting tax related to sand and aggregates.

The injured is 35-year-old Raj Kumar Chaudhary of Buddha Shanti Municipality-5. Chaudhary sustained injuries in the attack carried out by four assailants.

Meanwhile, police have arrested five people including Suman Sundas 17, Amar Limbu, 17, Sanju Tamang, 18, Harka Raj Rai, 22 of Mechinagar-9 in connection with the khukuri attack, said DSP Mahendra Shrestha.

Dipak Tamang, 36, Suraj Tamang alias Nikhil involved in the incident are at large.

Police said they have launched a manhunt for the assailants.
