KATHMANDU: Nepal, unquestionably, has remained an exhilarating destination for trekkers and adventure tourists since this Himalayan country gives you an assortment of invigorating opportunities.

Annapurna Trekking Circuit often termed as one of Nepal’s most popular treks, offers you adventure blended with pleasure with the trail crossing a wide variety of terrain in the region.

This gives you an opportunity to acquaint with the rich cultural and natural diversity in addition to having an amazing view of the Annapurna range, Manaslu (8156m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Langtang Himal (7227m).

Furthermore, the trail gives you an opportunity to enjoy green high alpine, the lush valley, and arid peaks.

Varieties of flowers, including Nepal’s national flower, Rhododendron, and colorful orchids, add essence to the trek, especially during spring.

In the ABC trek, visitors can bring out the best enthusiasm while passing through the ups and downs, valleys, hills, cascading waterfalls, and rivers viewing the magnificent Machhapuchhre massif and the deepest gorge Kali Gandaki (2520m).

Poon hill (3210m) is another vantage point to view the Annapurna and other peaks, including the mesmerizing sunrise and sunset.

ABC through the MBC (Machhapuchhre Base Camp).

ABC, in fact, an all-season trek. However, monsoons are not a good time since there is heavy rainfall during the evenings or nights with dark clouds all over the sky. This, however, does not mean that peaks hide behind the clouds.

For ABC trek, autumn is the best time when this dry season offers you a clear blue sky and moderate temperature. In fact, autumn is the best season for trekking in Nepal and is, therefore, very crowded.

As the name suggests, the centerpiece of this part of this Himalayan country is the range of mountains, which includes Annapurna I, the first of the 8,000 m peaks to be climbed. Other mountain peaks in this region include the 8,000m giant, Dhaulagiri — located to the west of Annapurna I (8091m).

Between these two mountains lies the Kali-Gandaki River valley, the world’s deepest gorge.

Trekking in this region gives you a total view of fertile and lush land, undisturbed forests, snow-clad mountains, beautiful flowers, birds, and encountering a mixture of several ethnic communities. All these add up to a diverse range of experiences you can see and feel making your trek in this region one of the most satisfying experiences.

The Annapurna chain of mountains lies inland causing a large chunk of land to fall in the rain shadow area.

Hence, this region is considerably drier than Nepal’s southern mountain slopes.

Nepal has six seasons but it translates as:

Spring (March to May)

Summer/Monsoon (June to August)

Autumn (September to November)

Winter (December to February)
