CHITWAN: Lightning kills around 110 people every year in Nepal, experts have said.
Dr Sriram Sharma, who did his Ph.D. on lightning, informed that a study carried out from 2011 to 2018 found out that annually 110 people have lost their lives to lightning in the country.
Sharma stressed on being high alert during lightning to prevent loss of lives and properties. Lightning generally brings higher risks in Nepal during the period from April to June.
Several people have lost their lives untimely due to lack of cautionary measures, according to Dr. Sharma.
He suggested that the risks can be reduced with the setup of safety nets such as installation of lightning rod.
Likewise, Dr Pitribhakta Adhikari, who also did his Ph.D. on fine signature of lightning, suggested keeping high alerts during lightning.
