Illegal migrant workers have to leave Malaysia by Dec 31



KATHMANDU: Foreign migrant workers who have been living illegally in Malaysia have to leave the country by the end of December.

The Malaysian government has decided to take a stringent action against the illegal migrant workers from January 1, in response to the complaints that a huge number of migrant worker are living illegally in the country.

The term of the program called ‘back for good’ launched by Malaysia in order to send back the illegal migrant workers is also expiring on January 1.

Nepali Embassy in Malaysia has urged all the Nepali migrant workers working illegally in the country to return by December 31.

The migrant workers who have lost their passports, whose visas have expired, left the first employer and those without required documents are categorized as illegal.

Malaysia is the largest absorber of the Nepali migrant workers.
