Survey Department prepares digital database of Nepal-India border pillars



KATHMANDU: Survey Department, the only national mapping organization of Nepal, has started the process of updating border pillars laid to determine border with India.

The department will prepare a digital database of the locations and coordinates of all the border pillars.

Director General Prakash Joshi said that the department has already got locations and coordinates of the pillars and it will be helpful to place them in an earlier location if moved.

Border Taskforce Teams from both the countries are collecting data of 8,553 pillars except that in the Susta and Kalapani area, Gorkhapatra Daily reported on Sunday.

2021/22 has been fixed as the deadline to complete the work. Teams from both countries will submit their reports to the respective countries on conclusion.
