NEW DELHI: The highly-anticipated launch of India’s second mission to the Moon, Chandrayaan-2, is likely to take place later this month, Indian media reports have said.
The launch was called off due to a technical problem on July 15. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has rectified the glitch.
Chandrayaan-2’s countdown to the launch, on board the GSLV Mk-III rocket, was scheduled for 2.51 am (IST) on July 15 this year. The launch was, however, stopped around an hour before lift-off.
Reports have said a technical glitch was noticed in the launch vehicle system at t-minus 56 minutes. Chandrayaan-2 is said to explore the uncharted lunar south pole. India had launched Chandrayaan-1 some 11 years.
The Chandrayaan-2, nicknamed Baahubali, will take 54 days to land on the Moon. (Agencies)
