TIA ready to operate for 21 hours a day

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Nepal’s only international airport in Kathmandu, is set to operate for 21 hours a day.

The TIA has been ready for operation for 21 hours after the completion of its four-month-long renovation.

The airport was shut for around seven hours every night during the renovation period.

TIA authorities said that the TIA would officially launch the 21-hour operation on January 1, 2020 — the first day of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign.

The government of Nepal has set an ambitious target of bringing in over 2 million tourists in 2020.
