Five cops injured as police, Rabi Lamichhane’s supporters clash in Chitwan



CHITWAN: At least five police personnel were injured as they clashed with the supporters of journalist Rabi Lamichhane here in the district on Friday.

District Police Office, Chitwan said that police lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the mob as they pelted stones at the police office.

Supporters of the journalist have been protesting since early morning arguing that he has been framed.

Earlier today, the Chitwan District Court had remanded journalists Lamichhane and Yuba Raj Kandel and Ashmita Karki to five-day judicial custody.

They were arrested after a video allegedly shot by journalist Shalikram Pudasaini before allegedly killing himself was made public. In the video, Pudasaini has accused three persons including Lamichhane of abetting the suicide.

Journalist Pudasaini, associated with Mountain Television, was found dead in a local hotel in Chitwan district on August 5.
