At least 83 die in of AES in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur



BIHAR: A total of 83 children between the age group of 1-10 have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Muzaffarpur and the nearby districts of Bihar, Indian media reports have said.

Doctors said the deaths due to AES are caused due to severe heat and humidity. This fever is being called ‘Chamki’ locally.

Health experts have warned that the situation will aggravate unless and until rainfall takes place.

Meanwhile, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an ex-gratia of IRs four hundred thousand each to families of those who died due to AES. (Agencies)
