French trekker stranded in cliff rescued in Nepal



JOMSOM: Police have safely rescued a French national who was stranded in a cliff for five hours in course of trekking in the Annapurna Circuit.

Spokesperson at District Police Office, Mustang Ashish Adhikari said they rescued French female tourist Maarine Charlotte Tachat from a cliff in Burarung Mukti Chhetra Rural Municipality-1, Singhdhopu on Friday.

The rescued woman was on her way to Jomsom from Manang through Thorong La Pass. Police were informed at around 3 pm today that she has been left marooned in the cliff.

She had informed the French Embassy in Kathmandu about her condition and the Embassy forwarded the information to police. The law enforcement agency rescued her at around 4 pm.
