Finance Minister Khatiwada off to USA

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada left here for the USA on Tuesday in order to take part in the joint meeting of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund.

Minister Khatiwada’s secretariat informed that he would also hold bilateral meetings with the senior officials of the World Bank Group and IMF in addition to the participation in the joint meeting in Washington DC.

The discussions would dwell on making effective the assistance being provided by the International Development Association (IDA) for policy reform in Nepal and the possibilities of identifying further areas of assistance.

The Minister is also scheduled to attend the program to share Nepal’s experience on the implementation of federalism. Also in the schedule is the participation in a program to be organized on the occasion of the 50th years of Nepal’s cooperation with IDA.

Moreover, an informal meeting of the Finance Ministers from SAARC countries would be presided over by Finance Minister Dr. Khatiwada.

The Minister, who is accompanied by Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Shree Krishna Nepal, is to return home on October 23.
