Gyanendra Shahi arrested after scuffle at press meet



KATHMANDU: Anti-corruption campaigner Gyanendra Shahi has been arrested from a press conference in Pulchowk, Lalitpur on Sunday afternoon.

According to DSP Devendra Pandey at Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, Shahi was taken under police detention for safety following a scuffle at the press meet.

Shahi was holding the press meet about an incident inside an airplane at Nepalgunj Airport before it took off Kathmandu on Saturday evening.

Passengers along with Shahi had vented their ire at the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai after he caused the flight to be delayed by an hour.

A video of the incident has been doing the rounds on social media. In the video, Minister Bhattarai has kept mum. Later, he took to social media to apologize for the inconvenience.
