Deuba concerned over postponement of House meeting

KATHMANDU: President of main opposition Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed his concern over the postponement of today’s scheduled meeting of the House of Representatives.

Walking out of the parliament building following the meeting postponement, Deuba told media-persons said the parliament should have rather come together at this time of sorrow caused by flooding and landslides across the country to provide help to the flood victims.

“Reports say 63 people have been killed so far across the country in this tragedy. All parliamentarians should come together for help at this time of sorrow. Our voices to allow discussion in this regard in parliament and for all parliamentarians to unite for help have been unheard. Rather the meeting was put off. This is a serious matter,” he said.

Other leaders of opposition parties like NC parliamentary party chief whip Bal Krishna Khand, Rastriya Janata Party leader Laxman Lal Karna also concurred with NC President Deuba on this matter, saying Parliament should have instead discussed ways to launch relief and rescue efforts and find solutions to reduce disaster-induced losses.
