House meeting called for today adjourned for July 24



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Lower House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament scheduled for 1 pm today has been adjourned, pasting a notice.

The meeting has been postponed citing the loss of lives and properties caused by landslides and floods triggered by incessant downpour across the country.

“The meeting has been postponed since lawmakers are required to go to their respective constituencies to carry out relief, rescue and search operations in the flood-hit districts,” said the statement signed by Manohar Prasad Bhattarai, general secretary of Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The next meeting of the Lower House of Representatives will take place on July 24 (Wednesday 1 pm).

The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by the incessant downpour in Nepal has climbed to 67, with 30 people still missing, police said on Monday.

Torrential downpour since Thursday has affected 28 districts across the country. A total of 43 people are injured and 30 others are missing.
Nepal Police and Nepal Army personnel have rescued 1,446 people so far from 22 flood-hit districts of the country so far.

As many as 33,000 people have been affected due to the calamity in the last three days, according to the figures maintained by the Home Ministry.
