KATHMANDU: The Special Court has demanded a bail amount of Rs 7.5 million from Raj Narayan Pathak, former commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), who is facing a corruption case.

Pathak, who faces a corruption case, on Wednesday produced himself before the Special Court within the deadline that the court had earlier issued.

A bench of Chairman of the Special Court Justice Baburam Regmi, members and Justices Dwarika Man Joshi and Pramod Kumar Shrestha Baidya sought the bail amount from Pathak.

It should be noted that the CIAA had on March 26 lodged a corruption case against him for taking a bribe of Rs 7.80 million.

Pathak had on February 15 stepped down from the post of CIAA commissioner after news reports published about a video taking bribe which showed Pathak’s involvement of trying to privatize a land and private properties worth Rs. 1.50 billion, which was handed over to the Nepal Engineering College in Bhaktapur at Changu Narayan.
