KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Water Supply is to support and facilitate local levels to prepare action plan relating sanitation and drinking water.

This is aimed at ensuring the citizen’s right to clean drinking water. Water Supply Minister Bina Magar apprised a meeting of the parliamentary Development and Technology Committee on Wednesday.

According to her, the action plan would help determine the number of projects that are required to address the citizen’s needs as well as preparing and planning the required budget for their implementation.

She said that out of 778 water projects damaged by the 2015 earthquake, around 109 water projects are yet to be restored adding that they would be completed within a year.

Likewise, she also informed that a proposal would be presented at the next cabinet meeting concerning its work plans to complete the remaining works of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
